WHO WE ARE

Being Peace Sangha is a group of open-minded and caring individuals practicing mindfulness in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh , Vietnamese monk, zen master, poet and peace activist.

Though many different backgrounds and situations exist within our community we are able to connect and are unified in our commitment to deepen our practice of mindfulness.

As we practice mindfulness, deep listening and loving speech in community our practice becomes more steady.  “With the support of the community, we can practice to cultivate peace and joy within and around us, as a gift for all of those whom we love and care for.  We can cultivate our solidity and freedom- solid in our deepest aspiration and free from our fears, misunderstandings, and suffering.” -Happiness by Thich Nhat Hanh

 WHAT WE DO

Weekly meetings:

The Sangha meets each Tuesday evening for meditation and Dharma discussion.  Our weekly gatherings include time for both sitting and walking meditation.

To learn more about our Tuesday evening practice click here or follow the Tuesday Meditation link at the top of the page.

Days of Mindfulness:

Days of mindfulness are held locally four times each year.  These days generally begin around 9:00 AM and end between 3:00-4:00 PM.  The schedule typically includes sitting meditation, walking meditation, Dharma sharing, relaxation exercises and a silent potluck lunch.

Being Peace Sangha has also offered days of mindfulness for families.  This is a wonderful opportunity for members with children to practice mindfulness together in a supportive environment.

“It is probable that the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The next Buddha may take the form of a community. “
